Summary/Abstract: The present article dedicated to 15th-century secular anthroponyms completes another study on religious names in Wallachian Slavic-Romanian documents and sets out to analyze to what extent these names entered the Romanian designation system. Our research is based on the Documenta Romaniae Historica series. The preponderance of secular names over religious ones can be explained in terms of the historical context of the period – the direct contact with the Slavs and the diffusion of Slavonic northward of the Danube, as a liturgical language. Most secular anthroponyms are hypocoristic and derived names borrowed by the Romanians from the Southern Slavs and which disappeared once the direct Slavic influence came to an end or, by re-suffixation, stopped being Slavic borrowings and became Romanian words. The features of 14th16th century Wallachian anthroponymy indicate an evolving process which means settling the designation system, as well as the inventory of anthroponyms.
