Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the English versions of the acts of the secondary legislation of the European Union. It also examines the structure of the legislative acts which structure has an effect on the language. English is one of the official languages of the EU but it has linguistic characteristics which distinguishes it from English of the common law system. English of the EU is institutional language and it is related to the features of the EU legal system.
