On the Interaction between Terminological Lexis and Phraseology in the Bulgarian Language

Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the interaction between terminological lexis and phraseology in contemporary Bulgarian as a manifestation of the mutual enrichment of the languages for special purposes, on the one hand, and everyday language, on the other. The authors establish that while the phraseologisation of terminological units and the formation of phraseological units from terminological items is an active process in the con-temporary language, the enrichment of terminological systems by terminologising phraseological units has a very limited role. The most active sources for enriching the phraseological system of the language are the terminological fields of sports, military affairs, technology and medicine, among others.
