Self- governmental press as a tool of information policy at the local level

Summary/Abstract: The article tries to answer the question: What role does self-governmental newspapers play in the communication policy of local authorities at local level. It contains basic information about the phenomenon of local press, as well as the analysis of the obligations that are enforced to the local authority by the local legislature. The phenomenon of information policy with the appropriate tools was also presented in the article, as well as the basic advantages and disadvantages of using the press in this activity. This is supplemented with research on readers of five local newspapers in the Silesian region for perception of this kind of press and its role in the acquisition of information by citizens.
