Summary/Abstract: The researches in the Archive of the Serbian Orthodox Parish of Satu Mare (Arad County) have recently uncovered an interesting and well preserved item – the Register of Encyclicals, for the period 1816-1834. The Register mostly contains letters-encyclicals from the bishops and proto-presbyters in charge at that time. The content of the encyclicals is not only limited to spiritual teachings and instructions related to church services and administration, but they also contain advices on different aspects of the everyday life of the parishioners (protection from contagious diseases, etc.). The paper first presents a description of the Register itself, the historical period and the context in which it was written. Subsequently, a complete list of the encyclicals is provided, the most important ones being particularly highlighted, along with additional explanations and correlations with historical figures and events from that time. The paper contains, in addition, some comments related to the employed languages and writing styles. The final part of the paper points out the relevance of the Register for the researches of the life of Serbs in the Upper Banat during the 19th century.
