Summary/Abstract: The Serbian Singing Society from Timișoara is one of the most representative choral ensembles of the Serbian ethnic community living on the present territory of Romania. Founded in 1867, the Society was active until 1947, when its activity was abruptly forbidden by the state authorities. The events organized by the Society between 1867-1919 were not only plain happenings, but also social gatherings, which provide a good opportunity to review the musical, artistic, but also the social and national trends of that period.
