Summary/Abstract: The text describes the wedding customs from North Banat region in Serbia (materials from Kikinda and the region) and the traditional wedding of the Banat Bulgarians (from the villages of Gostilya, Brdarski Geran, Asenovo, Dragomirovo) according to the methodology of comparative studies. The focus of the research won't be on the dynamics of change and modernization of the ritual, but on the idea of showing the closeness, similarities and differences in its traditional mode (functioning until 1920-1930). I pay attention to all the main ritual moments in the wedding from North Banat – “provodajiluk”, “prosidba” (proposal of marriage/engagement), “Bukliya”, bachelor and bachelorette party, as well as to all the rituals on the day of the wedding and will make parallels with variants in the traditional wedding of the Banat Bulgarians. The aim is to find the common models, mutual influence and interference between local wedding traditions and rituals in the region of Banat and the Banat Bulgarians, who lived for more than two centuries in the same area.
