A COMPARISON BETWEEN CHINESE AND BULGARIAN TRADITIONAL CULTURAL PHENOMENA - FEATURES OF WEDDING CUSTOMS

Summary/Abstract: Marriage custom culture is about the thoughts, concepts and behaviors of marriage arising from the development of human history. It is a part of human culture, with obvious brand of the times. The marriage customs are not only a reflection of culture, but also a portrayal of social development. Every country and every nation in the world has its own unique marriage customs. The study of marriage customs is essentially the study of the phenomenon and the development process of the culture in various countries and nationalities. This article expounds the different views on the origin of marriage between China and Bulgaria, and finds out the similarities and differences in the traditional wedding rituals of the two countries through the comparison of customs and ceremonies such as proposing marriage, getting engaged, preparing for marriage, and holding weddings. Through a comparative study of the influence of the social hierarchy, patriarchy, and religious beliefs on the marriage customs of the two countries from a cultural perspective, it is concluded that the connotations of the marriage customs of the two countries are common, and the social and cultural differences between the two countries have caused them. The specific manifestations of marriage customs are different.
