Summary/Abstract: The reconstruction of lost documents with Panayot Hitov’s autograph from the period March-May 1876 reveals the extent of influence of the emigration revolutionary centre set up in Belgrade by the voivode, the structure and functioning of the organization, the persons taking part in it, as well as his work on the formation of a unified Bulgarian army with military hierarchy different from the chetnik one and coming close as much as possible to the army one. The contemporaries of the voivode regarded the organizing of Bulgarian volunteers in Serbia as the beginning of a modern Bulgarian army.
