Summary/Abstract: The influx of migrants in to the European union during the years 2015 and 2016 had indicated the weaknesses of the system for the management of migrations and the need for the implementation of measures that would remediate the crisis but also prevent or lessen such crises in the future. They included a systemic approach by a wide array of actors built on coordination and cooperation. The influx of migrants in the EU in 2019 was lowest in six years (prior to the COVID-19 pandemic). Bosnia and Herzegovina was impacted by the migrant crisis. There is a need to solve current problems facing B&H regarding the migrants but also to implement a strategy for dealing with these issues. B&H is a contract party to numerous international and regional legal instruments in the context of migrations. Those contracts have both a direct and indirect impact on the contents of the Strategy in the area of migrations and asylum (2021.-2025.). The honoring and the implementation of those rules is of special importance for the continuation of the international processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina towards membership in the European Union. Even though it is possible to state that the issue of migration and asylum is exclusively an issue of state sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly from the vantage point of regulating the terms and conditions for foreigner entry in to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the effects of social transformation and demographical changes have a distinctly global character, and thus reflect too on Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are of the opinion that the current development of globalization, of migration movements, of integration, of universal human rights has in great part mandated a regional and global approach to this area. In the paper we analyses the approach to the migration policy of the European Union and compare the approach of our country. We analyze the actors involved in this process as well as the advantages and drawbacks of their activities in this regard up to now. In the end, we analyze the strategy of B&H in the area of migrations and asylum up to the year 2025.
