Summary/Abstract: A proliferation of private security emerged at the end of the nineties. This area is recognized in all national security systems of modern states. It was given the task of fulfilling many security functions that had been fulfilled only by the state until recently. After the state has given up the monopoly in favor of private security subjects, there has been an expansion of private security in the European Union. Thus, according to some data, there is one security guard on 500 citizens in the countries of the European Union. Today, we are witnessing the development of private security in Bosnia and Herzegovina that began more than fifteen years ago. Since 2002, private security in Bosnia and Herzegovina tends to develop and become an important sector in the overall social environment. Considering the very rapid development of private security in Southeast Europe, predictions were that such a situation would also affect private security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This paper tests this claim and explores the trend of private security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The results we have come up with, show that the growth trend has been recorded in the last seven years in Bosnia and-Herzegovina.
