Summary/Abstract: The re-establishment of the Archdiocese of Timisoara is a historical act and a recognition of the role that our Church had in the spiritual, national and cultural life of the Romanian Orthodox living on the blessed lands of Banat. The elevation to the rank of archbishop of Bishop Vasile Lazarescu, „distinguished scholar of our Church“, as former minister Radu Roșculeț called him, is not only an act of historical justice, but also of recognition of the theological, pastoral and cultural activity carried out by this worthy hierarch in Sibiu and Oradea, in Caransebeș and Timișoara, crowned by the founding of the monumental metropolitan cathedral in the capital of Banat.
