Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to discuss Gabriel Marcel’s philosophy of love. Love, according to Marcel, always relies on a concrete, existential relation of “I” to “You.” Only the concrete relationship between two human beings can constitute the opening up the metaphysical-religious horizon of the Infinite. Therefore, between love to another human being and openness to God there is a close and inseparable link, and the God – the “object” of faith – is equal to interpersonal love. Therefore, the horizon of man’s ultimate fulfillment in God is what Marcel defines as Being. The concept of being, in Marcel’s original understanding, is the “universe” of love – the most deeply understood community of all individuals with the transcendent Absolute.
