Summary/Abstract: In Orthodox Christian music literature, the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ represents an event of overwhelming importance to humanity. The God-Man took his human nature from the Blessed Virgin Mary, becoming like us, apart from sin. He incarnated in temporality to deliver man from ancestral sin. The present scientific research represents an interdisciplinary, theological-musicological contribution reflected in a reference musical piece (Axion) within the divine Liturgy. The present musical composition belongs to the iromonah Macarie, an important exponent of the Romanian psaltic music from the first half of the 19th century. The melodic-melismatic complexity of this religious composition fully illustrates the author's inspiration. The hymnographic text used, having multiple theological valences, demonstrates that the present mariological hymn brings to the fore the unique role of the Virgin in the supernatural Birth of the Logos embodied in temporality.
