About the Cooperation of Georgi Bakalov with the Polish Socialist Intelligentsia during the 90s of the 19th century

Summary/Abstract: Georgi Bakalov is a representative of that generation of Bulgarian intelligentsia which forms its views immediately after the Liberation of Bulgaria. He comes into the cultural and political life of the country during the last decade of 19th c. The article pays an attention to one of the most characteristic activities of G. Bakalov, literary-publishing and translating. On the basis of new documents, kept in Polish and Soviet archives, the personal contacts and relationships, which G. Bakalov succeeded to establish with the Polish emigration, in Geneva and London in the end of the past century, are revealed. Special place is selected for his cooperation with the editorial office of the magazine “Pshedshvit”. The research gives a possibility to light up some aspects of the Bulgarian-Polish relationships in our new history.
