Summary/Abstract: The article discusses character of work and professional development of a teacher, their professional satisfaction and its factors, as well as results of own research and analysis of professional situation as a variable affecting professional satisfaction of the study respondents. The study focused on three teachers’ professional satisfaction areas: work with students, relationship with other teachers and personal achievements in relation with their professional situation determined by the type of school, professional experience and vocational training. The purpose of the study was to demonstrate relationship between professional situation of the respondents and the experienced professional satisfaction in the analyzed areas. The research issue was to recognize what the connection between various dimensions of teachers’ work and their professional satisfaction was and to which extent various work factors affect their satisfaction level. The researched group constituted of 446 teachers of various types of schools (elementary, secondary, high schools, vocational schools) with different professional experience and vocational training. The study allowed establishing a connection between professional situation of the respondents and the studied professional satisfaction factors, such as work with students, relationship with other teachers and personal achievements, in relation to the selected criteria describing their professional situation.
