Summary/Abstract: The fall of the USSR gave birth to new geopolitical realities in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe and the intervention by force and military power was no longer a solution. After years of reform, the Russian Federation was forced to apply coercion to its former political satellites. In this context, the Russian leaders initiated the reconstruction of the old sphere of economic and political influence by using identity conflicts, energy blackmail and hybrid warfare.
