Summary/Abstract: The concepts of minority and canon can be defined only ambiguously, the reason being their „multifocality” and possibility of relativization. Various keywords and definitions can be connected to these concepts. For example, regarding the concept of literary canon, there are keywords and definitions about world, national and private literary canons, and regarding the minorities in Central Europe canons about their geographical, geopolitical situation, ethnicity, religion and language. There is no agreement among theoreticians on these concepts; their various definitions are vague or overlapping. This paper focuses on the concepts of canon and minority literature and their possible correspondence. It tries to examine the connection between canonization and the contemporary literature of ex-Yugoslavia countries as well as the minority literature written in Hungarian language.
