Summary/Abstract: The author has studied linguistic data found in seventeenth-century vernacular damaskini. The system of words and phrases that form rhythmic structures is analyzed in а relation to Christian ideas of the Middle Ages, and novel social ideas of the pre-Revival period. Specific artistic techniques, characteristic of the poetic style, are revealed and interpreted. For example: anaphors and other repetitions, metaphors, etymological figures, structural parallelism, etc.
