Summary/Abstract: The banking system in the Republic of Moldova operates under conditions of high uncertainty, which periodically turn into financial crises. However, the creation of the domestic banking system took place under conditions of one of the toughest economic-financial crises. In the study, publications and data from different sources were examined regarding characteristics of the financial crisis, which may have a semi-significant influence on the activities of the banking system in the Republic of Moldova. The purpose of this paper is to present the current summary of bank management problems under the conditions of the current financial cataclysm. As a result of the research, proposals will be formulated for their solution. The banking system in the Republic of Moldova is facing a new post-pandemic financial crisis following the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This crisis is determined by five groups of factors: the unfavorable world economic situation; the consequences of the pandemic crisis; the dysfunctions of the national economy; the Russian-Ukrainian war; and the activities of central authorities. In the current conditions, first of all, the continuous strengthening of administrative framework of commercial banks is required in order to prevent various manifestations of moral hazard and new banking scandals. Secondly, the improvement of banking institutions’ liquidity management practices is welcome. Thirdly, additional efforts are needed to optimize the activities of attracting deposits and granting loans to bank customers.
