Summary/Abstract: the article deals with the future of labour, i.e. the future of trade unions and their strategies in the 21st century in Central and Eastern Europe. « It should be borne in mind that labour is facing one of the most difficult periods in its history, and one of the major historic crossroads. Many factors support the anticipation that the end of the 20th century will both actually and symbolically mark the end of a historic phase in the development, social position and role of labour. Answers to the strategic issues will have a strong impact on employees’ material and social position in the 21st century.»
