The Regional Agricultural and Industrial Exhibition in Leszno (24 VIII – 14 IX 1947) in the socio-political perspective of the post-war period. The case study

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the preparation, course and socio-political evaluation of an agro-industrial exhibition which took place in Leszno (Wielkopolska) at the turn of August and September 1947 in connection with the celebrations of 400 years of the town. The research undertaken takes the form of a case study. The analysis pays particular attention to the official and real goals of the event and the possible public reception in the context of a difficult political and economic situation. The study also presents specific elements related to the district and region, the themes of national communist propaganda and the social mood of the post-war period. An unintended connection between the Leszno event and the later Exhibition of Regained Lands in Wrocław (1948) is also shown.
