Effects of the “500+ benefit”

Summary/Abstract: The child support benefit, commonly referred to as the '500+ benefit', was introduced in 2016. Since then, its form and group of beneficiaries have significantly evolved. The benefit was intended to contribute to an increase in the birth rate and to the reduction of poverty (especially child poverty) and to be broadly understood investment in the family. In assesing the programme after six years of its functioning, it can be seen that only the latter objective has been fully realised.
