Summary/Abstract: The present article tackles the differences in objectives and approaches that the two partners constituting the Oltcit joint venture employed in order to pursue their respective policies. The Romanian State, which had control over most of the industrial aspects concerning Oltcit from the onset, gradually took over all of the manufacturing responsibilities in an attempt to impose its will on the main objectives of the company and to disconnect it from external factors which could influence its wider economic policy. Citroën’s financial and industrial concerns, along with its particular development plan and commercial strategy, led to a decrease in its interest in remaining the prime client for the automobile manufactured in Romania. Gradually, the stated goals grew ever more apart, and the particular approaches to implementing concrete measures oftentimes remained opposite. Such approaches are mainly highlighted by stressing the French partner’s point of view of the differences that ultimately contributed to the inefficient activity.
