Summary/Abstract: The article discussed professional methods used by a historian – lexicographer. This was done based on two texts from the middle of the fifteen century. The lexeme obraz was fully explained by showing the mechanism of an error that had been made by a medieval interpreter. In the second case, the note byl czvl had been rectified in a many different ways thus far. Now, the author of the paper suggested for consideration a very new, original meaning. The new understanding of the verse 183 supported the rectification of czvl to czvd. According to the author, in the verse 183 złą wodą should be read as złą wolą
