Summary/Abstract: This article pays homage to a great scientific and cultural personality in Romania, the first president of the Romanian Academy, Ion Heliade Rădulescu, who passed away 150 years ago. Disciple of Gheorghe Lazăr, who had been his professor at the first Higher School in Bucharest, Heliade Rădulescu was a political man, an outstanding member of the Revolution of 1848, writer, poet, philologist, editor, founder of the Romanian press.
