Summary/Abstract: In the foreign policy, Take Ionescu pursued the national inter est that he hoped would be fulfilled with the good will and support of France and England. A favorite theme în this regard is the achievement of the Balkan confederation. A supporter of the Entente, Take Ionescu spoke în favor of Romania’s neutrality at the beginning of the First World War. After the government resigned on January 26, 1918, refusing to accept the consequences of an enslaving peace with the Central Powers, he pre ferred to go abroad, to Paris. In 1920, Take Ionescu agreed to be part of the government led by Alexandru Averescu, where he carried out a good government activity, the name of Take Ionescu being linked to the completion of the Little Entente. As a diplomat, he was the most authoritative exponent of Romanian diplomacy în the period immediately following World War I, militating for the creation of a system of alliances în Central Europe and the Balkans, as well as the creation of a block “from the Baltic to the Aegean Sea”, to oppose any revisionist actions.
