Summary/Abstract: Genesis of the creative process of Branimir Cosic, his work within the context of literary, critical and journalist’s expressions have been the focus of our interest. His lieterary-hisotrical significance is perceived in the specific position he took in the first decades of the 20th century, since it was placed between the modernist tendencies of one part of the literary generation after the First World War, and before the war, late romantic and realistic literary patterns. Special attention was given in the novel Pokoseno polje (Mowed field), since this was the last work of the writer in which he tried to compose a sort of synthesis, i.e. to theoretically explain and create his own model of the novel. This attempt was seen in his intention to construct so-called stream-novel similar to the type of novels by Prust, in which time and space were widely described and it was 244 a foundation for forming an immense gallery of characters. In this respect, the first part of the novel (Citava jedna mladost (The whole single youth)), brings a unique picture of the child in Serbian literature in the 20th century, and the second book Sile (Powers), which was socially engaged makes an interesting composition and contents unit.
