Summary/Abstract: The article aims to signal the need for changes in the law regarding the collection of firearms in museums. In the current legal status, there is very big freedom concerning collecting firearms, including A category, in private museums. Part of museum managers would not get firearms licences if they tried to get them. In the author’s opinion, there is no control over private museums’ field of collection of firearms. This requires changes in legal acts which to some extent will allow for rationing access to museum firearms by the individual people improving public safety and awareness as well as the safety of unsecured collections of firearms and museologists.
