Summary/Abstract: The author examines the role of propaganda, the collapse of the rapid war plan, the transformation of the conflict into a total war, the shortage of allies for the Central Powers, the transition to the supremacy of the Agreement in 1918, with a focus on the negative effectsof the Bulgarian participation. Bulgaria met its commitments to the Central Powers in a dignified manner, but the main trends of the development of the war became unfavorable for all countries of the coalition. Unlike the imperialist forces, Bulgaria fought for its national unity, but had joined a losing imperialist group.
