Summary/Abstract: The present study illustrates the fact that the majority of the best characteristics of the European society derive from its Christian legacy: the European culture, the European civilisation have developed, to great extent, through the spiritual impulse of Christianity. Europe has a tradition of thought and culture fundamentally marked by Christianity, irrespective of the fact that an European is or is not a believer, a Catholic, an Orthodox or a Protestant. Europe, with its two stylistic sides - the West and the Orient - has been, for almost two thousand years, a Christian edifice.
