Summary/Abstract: Katalikų Bažnyčios Katekizmas (Catechism of the Catholic Church) published in 1996 has 640 pages and sums up the five-hundred-year history of Lithuanian book (Martynas Mažvydas' Catechismus). The article provides amendments and suggestions on the language use. Apart from religious terms, lexicon, grammar amendments, much attention is paid to the clarity of the language of the Catechism so that all the people could unambigously understand it. The Catechism contains a number of semantic, pragmatic, even etymological, motivational, historical explications. However, some of its explications are clumsy; the language is very difficult to understand. That is why we should work hard to make the language of the Catechism the catechism of the language.
