Summary/Abstract: The author of the article is convinced that modern topography developed during the European Renaissance, especially through the introduction of the concept of Meridian Zero, was a topographical priority of strategic importance, it was mathematized and drawn, at that time, by German scientists, asa meridian that connected the North Pole with the South Pole, passing on the territory of today's Romania, around the fortress of Varadinum (now Oradea), dividing the world into the Eastern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere. In dealing with the subject of the article, the author makes a dynamic presentation of this revolutionary concept, starting with its history, because, as Winston Churchill said, "The more you can look back, the more you can look forward," presenting its importance on multiple levels of social activity yesterday and today.
