Summary/Abstract: This article discusses Jan Józef Lipski’s essay Dwie ojczyzny, dwa patriotyzmy [Two Homelands, Two Patriotisms] as a matrix of patriotism. The main question is: will the homeland designed by Lipski accommodate illegitimate identities (woman, gay, peasant) that can be described as “subordinated familiars” (or “internal strangers”)? Czapliński concludes by asking whether we still need the “homeland” today.
