Summary/Abstract: The paper considers adaptation and initial standardization of a test battery for assessment of early child development for Bulgarian sample of children (Developmental Assessment of Young Children (DAYC). The sample consists of 376 parents (mothers and fathers) whose children are enrolled in 6 different child preschool institutions in Sofia, Bulgaria. The construction of the test battery is based on the concept of development according which it is continuously gaining of experience and acquisition of more and more difficult skills. Items in the different scales are in order of growing bigger difficulty. In order to define the order of difficulty of items in the scales for Bulgarian sample we use a scalogram analysis. The data processing is based on Item Response Theory and in particular on Rash model.
