Summary/Abstract: Czapliński outlines the history of cyberpunk with a focus on its rebellious potential. Initially (beginning with W. Gibson’s novel Neuromancer, 1984, until the end of the twentieth century), cyberpunk’s rebelliousness was identified with the ability to put up a masculine struggle against the information network and those who are in charge of it; in the 2010s, cyberpunk recognises the ubiquity of information networks in collective life and the differentiation of the net’s power in terms of gender, class and race. Individual masculine rebellion against such a multifarious and differentiated network proves insufficient – it is necessary to use the network to create social bonds.
