Summary/Abstract: This article explores the current crisis of cyberpunk aesthetics with reference to selectedPolish computer games, which, on the level of narrative, interface and mechanics, haveconsistently copied and implemented the canonical determinants of cyberpunk. Felczakbegins by identifying visual aesthetics as the most significant feature of the cyberpunkconvention, while the conceptualisation of the interface – particularly the graphical userinterface – is presented as the key platform for the creation and negotiation of meaning. The exploitation of the motifs of cyberpunk productions, which are well established inpop culture, results in cyberpunk’s subversive potential being abandoned in favour ofhighly conventionalised solutions.
