Summary/Abstract: The article briefly introduces the issues of defining the future. Each section refers to the following theme: reasons for interest in the future, the future as a challenge, the future as a threat (esp. catastrophe), the discourse of hope, and the dialectic of novelty and repetition. Moreover, the article discusses the main research themes that appear in the articles presented in Teksty Drugie 3/2022.
