Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with Karel Čapek's student years in Brno (1905–1907) as well as with his summer stays in Bílovice nad Svitavou and his contacts with Brno in the interbellum period (especially his visits to theatre productions and the editorial office of Lidové noviny). Čapek's first poems and articles with the topic of Brno, printed in the 1920s and 1930s mainly in Lidové noviny, are also analysed. Finally, the paper examines Čapek' relations with authors associated with Brno, such as S. K. Neumann, Arne Novák, Jiří Mahen, Leoš Janáček and Petr Bezruč.
