Summary/Abstract: Mathematical puzzles are not assigned an essential role in a school’s “serious” mathematics education. However, they are interesting mathematical tasks, especially in developing mathematical thinking. To find out beliefs about them, students of the first year of early education were surveyed. The research results present the meanings given to them by students of early education. They indicate the limited knowledge of this type of puzzles and a reluctant personal attitude of the surveyed students.
