Summary/Abstract: The author went on a literary journey to the past. Describing successive ”miraculous” escapes of assorted members of his family – a great grandfather almost hanged during a peasant rebellion, a grandfather saved from being lynched, and the author’s mother, who evaded a firing squad during the Second World War – he reached deep into the past. Nostalgically skimming over places and epochs, A. Kroh dusted off images of history. This proximity and intimacy of reminiscences features a past that comes alive and in the author’s account becomes outright palpable.
