Summary/Abstract: By introducing the reader to fragments of his family’s biography and describing his childhood experiences, the author pondered on a definition of the qualities of the elite and the intelligentsia. The latter term, essentially characteristic only for our post-partition and post-communist geographical region, is, together with its idealistic and useless dimension, forced to tackle daily reality.
