Summary/Abstract: The question of whether there was a small ruler’s castle in the medieval town of Sredets arose in the second half of the twentieth century. The lack of sufficiently reliable written and archaeological evidence is the reason why this issue remains unresolved to this day. Several hypotheses have been formulated, but none of them is yet generally accepted. This report proposes a new hypothesis based on a watercolor from the end of the 19th century, based on an already vanished photographic picture taken in the same period.
