Summary/Abstract: The objective of this article is to analyze the expression of the accomplished of the Romanian verb in comparison with the French verb. The expression of the accomplished is linked to the morphology of the verb form, especially to the presence of the past participle in the compound forms of verbs. Linguistic works on the verb are unanimous in the assertion concerning the two values of the compound verbal forms: a value of anteriority with respect to a moment indicated in the speech and a value of accomplishment. The Romanian verbal system does not show the same formal symmetry as the French system where the simple, compound, and super composed forms are arranged symmetrically.
