Summary/Abstract: The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is one of the largest and most representative monuments of ecclesiastical art in Pernik Province. The temple was painted by the icon painter Kostadin Anastasov Gerov-Antikarov of Samokov (1831–1905). The temple is decorated entirely, and the greater part of the frescoes are in very good condition and they deserve comprehensive examination and publication. The present article is a first step towards the detailed documentation of this particularly interesting monument in the region of Pernik. The complete description and analysis of the mural decoration deserves a separate study. The frescoes follow the logic of the architectural layout, and thus here I only focus on the architectural features, as a first and important step towards the overall study of the temple and its decoration.
