Administrative Name Change - A Necessary Step in the Issue of Gender Identity

Summary/Abstract: The name, as an attribute of identification of the natural person, is regulated between articles 82-85 of the Civil Code, and is of major importance both in terms of acquisition and modification and change. Romanian society has evolved, and the challenges it faces are different in terms of changing its name administratively. The procedure for changing the name by administrative means is regulated by Government Ordinance no. 41/2003 regarding the acquisition and administrative change of the names of natural persons, approved by Law no. 323/2003, with subsequent amendments and completions.
