Summary/Abstract: Istanbul, a distinguished city that has the opportunity to keep countless traditions and cultures alive with its historical past and cultural texture, has reached its present day by living many values. The pigeon fancying culture, which is included in the totality of these values, has continued to exist as a well-established tradition that appeals to people from all walks of life, from the palace to public life. The pigeon fancying coffee houses, pigeon market, pigeon fancying associations in Istanbul, federations gathered under the roof of “pigeon fancying” constitute a whole in which this cultural value is realized and the pigeon fancying come together and oral cultural environments are formed. Pigeon fancying culture formed around the axis of oral narratives, formed between the maintainers of this culture, adage, names, and a pigeon called special competitions, offers researchers a hint of understanding the cultural fabric of the city while also living as the value of living among the people with regard to face the day, is also important. The prevalence of pigeon fancying culture in Istanbul has ensured that the belief systems formed around birds remain alive among the people live. Various organizations created around the pigeon fancying culture in Istanbul have contributed to the acquisition of a dynamic structure of the existing culture. In parallel with the developments brought about by the century, it has been observed that many elements, especially the master-apprentice relations, clothing-clothing practices, and ways of obtaining information that exist in the pigeon fancying culture, have undergone changes. In this context, the structures formed around this culture were evaluated by focusing on the current state of the bird breeding culture living in Istanbul.
