Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the development of literacy skills among primary school pupils using an educational trail. The aim of the research was to link the methodology of creating educational trails with the current didactic practices applied in teaching Czech language and literature at primary school to develop reading literacy. The impetus for the research was the desire to use an organisational form of teaching which links reading with regional elements including natural, socio-cultural, and literary aspects. This concept of an educational trail has not yet been systematically addressed in the didactics of Czech language and literature. The results of the research were applied in the creation of educational trail with a reading focus in the vicinity of Staňkov and subsequently verified in teaching at primary school. The research can be used for the creation of educational trails with a reading focus in other micro-regions and simultaneously offers practical teaching materials for primary school teachers.
