Summary/Abstract: The article collects and arranges information about the explicit poetics of one of the important figures in the Bulgarian artistic life of the last half of the century: Andrey Daniel – a painter, teacher and scientist. In his creative path, the artist passes “between two epochs”, as implied in his retrospective exhibition from 2021, while managing to place his views on art beyond the various possible oppositions that come to the fore in society after 1989: new against traditional arts; young versus old artists, etc. Behind the seemingly neutral self-identification as “moderately conservative” one can find the plastically moving and dialogical principles of a broad-minded liberal mind that generously accepts difference and new artistic phenomena.
