Summary/Abstract: The folk singer in Bulgaria is a symbolic figure in the process of revitalizing the tradition. Folk singers are the heirs and bearers of the oral collective traditional culture, which in the twentieth century existed in the new public spaces in various formats (media, stage and concert life). The current study presents the Bulgarian folk singer Penka Pavlova – one of the most dedicated representatives of this professional class in the second half of the 20th century and the first two decades of the 21st century.
